Last month, pamphlets were being distributed in the pediatric department of AIIMS to create awareness among the people against a kidney related disease. Complete information about the disease was given in about 12 to 14 pages, but it was also said that people who are suffering from this disease should keep a distance from the medical advice of homeopathy etc. Also asked to keep distance about Unani medicine because they believe that heavy elements are used in these medicines which are not beneficial for the kidney.
A senior official of AIIMS management also told that apart from AIIMS, the name of a senior doctor practicing in a private hospital in Delhi was also published in this booklet divided into attendants and patients, about which the management has also expressed displeasure. When the National Commission for Homeopathy got information about this leaflet, on 23 February, the Commission wrote a letter to AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria, raising questions and demanding immediate cognizance.
Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Tarakeswar Jain asked the management to take action on this activity of the department. Due to this, when the management questioned the doctors concerned, they had to apologize to the commission in writing. On February 26, AIIMS doctors apologised, considered it an error and said that it has been removed from the Hindi and English language booklets. Along with this, he has also assured to not repeat such mistake again in future.
