New Delhi. Afghanistan’s team played against South Africa in the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup. The whole world was watching this match and something happened in the match which no one had expected. More than half of the team returned before scoring 30 runs and the entire team was all out for 56 runs. South Africa’s pace trio Kagiso Rabada, Enrique Norkhia and Marco Jansen broke the back of the batting. Afghanistan’s entire team collapsed for just 56 runs in 11.5 overs.
Afghanistan’s batsmen disappointed badly when they came out with the intention of creating history against South Africa. After winning the toss, captain Rashid Khan chose to bat first but the batting order faltered badly. The team lost 8 wickets before scoring 50 runs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Azmatullah Umarzai, Gulbadin Naib, Nangeyalia Kharote and Mohammad Nabi Karim Janat, Noor Ahmed returned after getting out cheaply. Captain Rashid stood firm at one end and wickets kept falling at the other end.
South Africa’s havoc
Many pundits had underestimated the South African team against Afghanistan. This team, which was roaming around with the tag of chokers, proved everyone wrong and performed brilliantly in the semi-final match. The Proteas pace battery bowled lethally and took wickets one after the other, pushing the team on the backfoot. Kagiso Rabada, Enrique Norkhia and Marco Jansen ripped apart the batting order. Jansen took 3 wickets while Rabada and Norkhia took 2-2 early wickets. In the end, Tabrez Shamsi took 3 wickets and finished off the Afghan team.
