Gopalganj. With the increase in heat in Bihar, incidents of gas cylinder blasts have increased. After the capital Patna and Darbhanga, the incident of cylinder blast has come to light in Gopalganj. More than 100 houses were burnt due to cylinder blast. The incident took place on Friday afternoon in Dharhara fair and Ojhwalia village of Kateya block.
Due to the cylinder blast, the fire wreaked such havoc that within a moment the wishes of hundreds of families were destroyed. More than a hundred houses were burnt to ashes in the massive fire incident. One person got burnt while extinguishing the fire. About half a dozen bikes, 25 goats and 10 hens were also burnt. The burnt young man was immediately taken to the hospital. There was chaos in the entire village.

Thousands of people from many villages reached the incident site. The loss in this incident is estimated to be more than Rs 1 crore. The reasons for the fire could not be known. Eyewitnesses said that there was a very strong wind blowing on Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, a sudden fire broke out in the Chanwar of Dharhara Mela village. Before people could understand anything, the fire had taken a huge form. Within a short time, the flames started touching the sky and the fire spread to the Dalit colony of Dharhara Mela village.
The cylinders kept in the houses started blasting one by one. People started running here and there to save their lives. Hundreds including Anwar Basfor, America Basfor, Farooq Basfor, Nandu Basfor, Brijpal Ram, Praduman Ram, Yadunandan Ram, Nandlal Ram, Jadu Lal Ram, Hiralal Ram, Rajendra Ram, Sunil Ram, Rajan Ram, Lalan Ram, Chandan Ram, living in the colony. Fire engulfed people’s homes.

The villagers who reached the spot tried hard, but neither the fire could be controlled nor the items kept in any of the houses could be taken out. All the goods including grains, clothes and jewelery kept in hundreds of houses were burnt to ashes. Cash was also kept in many houses. Everything was burnt to ashes. The wind and flames were so strong that everyone looked helpless.

Fire brigade personnel said that there was fire at many places. All the vehicles have gone to extinguish the fire. After the entire colony was burnt, the fire brigade reached the spot. After this, efforts were made to extinguish the fire with the help of villagers and fire brigade. Local officials said that the fire brigade was also informed as soon as information about the fire was received. Revenue employee has been sent to the incident site. Investigation is being conducted. The administration will provide as per rules assistance to all the victims.
