The results that came on 4 June 2024 further increased the stature of Annapurna Devi. Annapurna Devi won the Koderma parliamentary constituency out of the total 14 parliamentary constituencies of Jharkhand by getting the highest number of votes, 3 lakh 77 thousand 14 votes, defeating CPIML MLA Vinod Singh from the Indy alliance.
Let us tell you that just before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Annapurna Devi, who left the post of Jharkhand Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) state president and joined the BJP, won the election from Koderma parliamentary constituency on a BJP ticket. Then Annapurna Devi got about 4 lakh 55 thousand 600 votes. After this, Annapurna Devi’s stature continued to rise in the Bharatiya Janata Party. Considering Annapurna Devi’s political journey and caste equation, the BJP made her the National Vice President on 26 September 2020 and later on 7 July 2021, Annapurna Devi was made the Union Minister of State for Education.
– She entered politics in 1998 after the death of her husband Ramesh Prasad Yadav, who was an MLA from Koderma.
– In the year 1998, she contested the Koderma assembly by-election for the first time, won and became the State Mines Minister in united Bihar.
– In the years 2000, 2005 and 2009, she was continuously elected as MLA from Koderma on RJD ticket.
– In the year 2013, she became a minister in Hemant Soren’s government in Jharkhand.
– In the year 2014, in the Narendra Modi wave, he lost the Koderma assembly elections to BJP candidate Dr. Neera Yadav.
– Before the Lok Sabha elections on 25 March 2019, she left the post of state RJD president and joined BJP.
– On April 06, 2019, BJP cut the ticket of then MP Dr Ravindra Rai from Koderma Lok Sabha and made him the candidate.
– In the Lok Sabha elections on 23 May 2019, she defeated former Chief Minister and then JVM supremo Babulal Marandi by 4,55,600 votes and was elected the first woman MP from the Koderma seat.
– On 26 September 2020, BJP gave him the responsibility of National Vice President in the party.
– Got a place in the Union Cabinet on 7 July 2021, was made Union Minister of State for Education.
