Ever since the arrest of Partha Chatterjee and cow smuggling accused Anubrata Mondal, Trinamool Congress Party President and state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been on the target of the opposition. On the one hand, where Mamta Banerjee is already troubled by the blows of the opposition, on the other hand, now the voice against corruption is being raised from within the party. Recently, Mamta’s own special and TMC’s Rajya Sabha MP Jawahar Sarkar gave a big statement. Talking to the media, Jawahar Sarkar said that half the body of TMC has rotten. In such a condition, the party cannot fight the battle of 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Now in the meantime, a statement of Mamta Banerjee has come to the fore, after listening to which such speculations are being made that soon Mamta Banerjee is going to say goodbye to politics.
Let me tell you, Mamata Banerjee recently reacted to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in a division bench of the Calcutta High Court seeking a central agency probe into the assets of her family members and said, “I have served the society. But if I had known earlier that today’s politics would become so dirty, due to which I and my family members would have to face so much false defamation, I would have left politics long ago.
Mamta Banerjee said that if the investigation found any property in her name or government land illegally held by any member of her family, she is at liberty to demolish that property using bulldozers. Mamta Banerjee said, “My permission will not be needed for this. I have asked the Chief Secretary of the state to conduct an independent inquiry into the matter. If there is even a single allegation against any member of my family of illegally occupying land, then the member concerned will be held accountable for that.”
Clarifying about her lack of ties with the family, Mamata Banerjee said, “I do not live with other members of my family. They live separately like nuclear family units. We meet on social occasions.”
