New Delhi. Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has performed brilliantly in the second Test against England, taking him to the number one position in the ICC Test rankings for bowlers. This achievement is a historic moment as no Indian fast bowler has reached the top of the ICC Test rankings before. Before Bumrah, Indian spinners had held the top spot, including Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Bishan Singh Bedi.
In the second Test against England, Bumrah took a total of nine wickets, including six in the first innings and three in the second, as well as contributing 91 runs with the bat. His excellent performance earned him the Player of the Match award. Bumrah, who reached the top of the Test rankings, has left behind Ravichandran Ashwin, who is now in third place.

Along with Bumrah, other notable names in the top ranks of Test bowlers also include South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada at the second position, Australia captain Pat Cummins at the fourth position and Josh Hazlewood at the fifth position. Sri Lanka’s Prabhat Jayasuriya and England’s experienced fast bowler James Anderson are at sixth and seventh positions respectively. Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon is at eighth place, followed by India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja at ninth and England’s Ollie Robinson at tenth. This consolidation of Indian talent in the top ranks reflects the growing strength of Indian cricket on the global stage, with Bumrah’s achievement marking a milestone in the annals of Indian fast bowling history.
