However, before the semi-final match, a bad news has come for the Indian team. Indian player Amit Rohidas has been banned for one match, due to which he will not be able to participate in the semi-final match.
Red card caused damage
Amit Rohidas was shown a red card in the match played against Great Britain in the quarter-finals. After this incident, the Indian team had to play the rest of the match with 10 players. Rohidas’s stick accidentally hit the face of Britain player Will Callanan, due to which he received a red card.
FIH decision
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has said in its press release that Amit Rohidas has been suspended for one match for violating the code of conduct. Due to this, he will not be able to participate in the semi-final match against Germany. The Indian team will now play with only 15 players. However, Hockey India has appealed against this decision.

Strong performance of Indian team with 10 players
After receiving the red card, the Indian team performed brilliantly even with 10 players. Captain Harmanpreet Singh gave the team the lead by scoring a goal in the 22nd minute, which was later equalized by Great Britain’s Lee Morton. In the penalty shootout, Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh displayed his excellent ability and did not give many chances to the British players to score goals. Due to his unique performance, the Indian team won the shootout 4-2. Now everyone’s eyes are on the semi-final match against Germany, where the Indian team is ready to create history once again.
