Kawardha (Naiduniya News). The Bhoramdev Festival, to be organized in the name of the famous Bhoramdev temple of Chhattisgarh, will be organized on this upcoming 30th and 31st March. The festival is organized every year to enhance the reputation of Bhoramdev Temple, the site of historical, archaeological, religious, tourist importance of Chhattisgarh. However, this event was temporarily postponed under the ongoing Corona virus for the last two years. Collector Ramesh Kumar Sharma took a meeting on Monday in connection with the organization of Bhoramdev Festival in the meeting room of the district office. Collector Ramesh Kumar Sharma said that in view of the control situation of the upcoming COVID episode, it has been decided to organize Bhoramdev Festival. If the cases of COVID increase by the stipulated date, then in such a situation it can also be reconsidered.
Municipality President Rishi Sharma also gave effective suggestions in the meeting to increase the fame of Bhoramdev Festival to the country and the world. He also suggested to give a platform to the folk artists based on the art, culture and traditions of Chhattisgarh in this festival. Collector Sharma did a preliminary discussion about the preparations for the event. He also inquired about the department-wise responsibilities given for the preparation of the pre-festival. On the same basis, this year also necessary guidelines were given to the concerned departments to make preliminary preparations for the event.
Events started in 1995
Bhoramdev Festival was started 26 years ago in 1995. At this time Kawardha was a tehsil of Rajnandgaon district of undivided Madhya Pradesh. The first Bhoramdev Festival was organized on 29 March 1995. At that time, the Vice Chancellor of Khairagarh Music University Hafiz Ahmed Khan, Abhayanarayan Malik, Madhukar Anand, Kathak artist Dr. Mandvi Singh, Bhajan singer Suresh Dubey etc. performed free programs. The festival was organized to promote the culture, art and folk color of Vananchal far and wide and to recognize Bhoramdev, the symbol of happiness of the people of Vananchal.
Earlier three-day event
The historical Bhoramdev Festival makes its special identity in the entire district. This is the only event in the district, which is organized under the supervision of the district administration itself. In the past, it has been organized for three days. But this time it will be a two day event. In the Bhoramdev Festival, till the year 2004, only local and regional level artists continued to grace the stage. Bhoramdev Mahotsav was given a new look from the year 2005. This year marked the beginning of a three-day festival in which bhajan singer Anoop Jalota and playback singer Suresh Wadekar gave a scintillating performance. After that, there were continuous performances. But this year nothing like this will be seen. Local artists of Chhattisgarh will grace the stage.

Apart from this, recently the Shivling has been covered with a casing made of 23 kg silver. Bhoramdev religious place is called Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh, here devotees come from far and wide to worship Lord Mahadev, Jalabhishek. The historical Bhoramdev temple is situated in Chaura village, about 18 km from Kawardha district headquarter. Built in the 11th century, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The work craft like Khajuraho is seen on the outer walls of the temple. This temple is a unique specimen of Nagara style.
