Avoiding populist promises
Congress made populist promises in the manifesto. Congress had made attractive promises in the manifesto in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh but did not fulfill them. Why did Congress not include OPS in its manifesto now? The public is watching everything. It is easy to make populist promises in the manifesto but equally difficult to fulfill them. The aim of Modi government is to work for every section including the poor, farmers, youth.
‘Slowly bringing people out of poverty’
It is not possible to eliminate poverty in one go. If this was possible then Indira ji had promised to eliminate poverty years ago. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that poverty does not end immediately. In the last few years, 25 crore people came out of extreme poverty. There are many types of poverty in India and it has to be seen through different indicators. PM Modi is working towards the empowerment of the countrymen.
