Jalandhar. Army has implemented Agniveer scheme for the recruitment of jawans. Under this, the soldiers are to be recruited for 4 years. Out of these, 25 per cent jawans will be taken into service on the basis of their work. Recruitment is being done for this, but the officers of Bhagwant Mann’s Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab are not cooperating in Agniveer’s recruitment. This has been disclosed by the English newspaper ‘The Indian Express’ quoting a letter from the army. The newspaper has reported that the army has written in a letter sent to the Bhagwant Mann government that it is not getting the support of the local administration in Punjab. Let us inform that the Aam Aadmi Party has also opposed the recruitment of soldiers under the Agniveer scheme.
The newspaper has cited the letter of the Zonal Recruiting Officer Major General Sharad Bikram Singh on September 8. Major General has sent this letter to Punjab Chief Secretary VK Janjua and Principal Secretary, Employment, Skill and Training Department Kumar Rahul. In the letter, Major General Singh has written that we are compelled to bring to your attention that we are not getting the support of the local administration. They are usually citing state government directives or paucity of funds. It is written that some necessary assistance in the restoration of the army is provided by the local administration, which includes police support for law and order, security, crowd control, barricading etc. The local administration is also expected to arrange a team and ambulance along with a medical officer to provide immediate assistance.
In the letter, it has also been written on behalf of the Major General that every day 3000 to 4000 candidates will have to arrange basic facilities like rain shelter, water, mobile toilet and food for 14 days at the place of restoration. He has said that in Jalandhar, we have not got any such facility from the local administration. In such a situation, we will put forward a proposal before the Army Headquarters to stop all future restoration of the army in Punjab. Or alternatively organize restitution in neighboring states. According to the Indian Express, in this matter, Principal Secretary Kumar Rahul said that some issues had come up in Gurdaspur. I have spoken to the general. Everything is fine and measures are being taken. At the same time, Ludhiana DC Surabhi Malik told the newspaper that the army has not faced any problem in organizing recruitment rallies in my district.
