AIDS to Be Ended by 2030: For the last few years, HIV disease has not been incurable. Now hardly anyone dies due to HIV. There are many types of effective medicines to live with HIV all over the world which can cure HIV. This is the reason why the number of people dying from HIV has decreased significantly since 1995. Although the truth is that HIV and the disease caused by HIV have not been eradicated yet, but WHO has made a plan in which it is being claimed that AIDS will be completely eradicated by 2030. Qureshia Abdul Karim, director of the United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS, told LiveScience that we now have tools with the help of which we can eliminate AIDS.
Many effective treatments for HIV
Dr. Monica Gandhi, University of California’s director of AIDS research, says that since 1996, we have many powerful treatments to control HIV/AIDS. In such a situation, if we can stop the HIV virus from spreading among healthy people, then we can eliminate HIV very soon. For this, the virus has to be prevented from passing from HIV positive person to HIV negative person during sexual intercourse. That means preventing the virus from spreading from infected people to other people is the best way to eliminate this disease. He said that this virus can be eliminated, for this HIV will have to be stopped from spreading among infants and teenagers.
Formula of 95-95-95
Currently there is medicine for HIV. Even if a person is at risk of HIV, he is given medicine in advance so that the person does not get HIV. Earlier, there was consensus among scientists that HIV would be eliminated by 2014. But this did not happen. Therefore, now the World Health Organization has decided to focus on newborns and teenage children. WHO has created a formula of 95-95-95 to eliminate AIDS caused by new HIV. That means 95 percent of people have to be sure whether they have HIV or not. After this, 95 percent of the people who have HIV have to be provided medicine for it and control it at all costs. After this, the virus has to be limited to only 95 percent of the infected people who are undergoing treatment. This means that arrangements have to be made to ensure that these people do not spread HIV to others under any circumstances. If HIV is controlled in this way, AIDS can be stopped by 2030.
