Devotees were trapped due to landslide

The rescue operation being carried out by the Indian Air Force in Kedarnath was completed on Sunday. A devastating landslide had occurred due to cloudburst near Kedarnath in Uttarakhand. The pilgrims who had come here were trapped due to this landslide in the hilly area. The Indian Air Force carried out a major rescue operation here for about 10 days, under which more than 200 people were airlifted and evacuated safely. At present, despite the completion of the operation, the Air Force has still kept one of its helicopters on standby.

According to the Air Force, 218 persons were rescued from Gaurikund, where pilgrims were stranded after a cloudburst triggered a devastating landslide. In a 10-day operation, Indian Air Force’s MI-17 V5 and Chinook helicopters braved challenging conditions to evacuate the elderly, injured and sick people. Apart from this, the Air Force airlifted more than 6 tonnes of relief material to provide relief to the stranded people.

The area was affected by landslides

According to the Air Force, one Chinook is still on standby here, while the Mi-17 V5 has been removed. Giving information in this regard on Sunday, it was told that the Indian Air Force has completed its rescue operation that lasted for several days in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand. This area was recently affected by a landslide. The rescue operation by the Indian Air Force ended on Sunday in the Kedarnath valley after evacuating the last survivor from the landslide affected area.

Special exercise ‘Taranga Shakti’ conducted

At the same time, a special exercise ‘Tarang Shakti’ is also being organized by the Indian Air Force in the country. The first phase of the exercise is going on in Sulur, Tamil Nadu. On Sunday, the Indian Air Force continued the exercise with officers and experts from the air forces of various countries. This is the first multinational exercise in India. The first phase of this multinational exercise is to run till August 14 in Sulur, Tamil Nadu. At present, apart from the Indian Air Force, the air forces of Germany, France, UK, Spain have also joined it. A total of 51 countries have been invited to participate in this exercise. The US Air Force is also going to participate in the second phase of the exercise. (IANS)
