Ahmedabad. The process of DNA matching the DNA of those killed in the plane crash on June 12 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat continues. Superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, Dr. Rakesh Joshi said on Thursday that out of those killed in the plane crash, 215 DNA samples have been matched.
Dr. Rakesh Joshi told the media, “We have received DNA matching of 215 samples till 5:45 pm on Thursday evening. Out of these, the bodies of 198 deceased have been handed over to their families. Nine of the remaining 17 families are waiting for DNA matching with other relatives. Apart from this, the process of handing over five bodies is going on, that is, they will not accept their bodies till morning.”
He said that the 198 dead bodies have been handed over 149 Indian citizens, seven Portuguese, 32 British and one Canadian. In addition, there are nine Indians in the dead who were not passengers. Out of these 198, 15 bodies have been transferred by air and 183 via ambulance by road. “
On Thursday morning, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi shared a post on the social media platform X and congratulated the Ahmedabad police, administration and social workers. He wrote on X, “Congratulations to the Ahmedabad police, district administration and social workers, they did a great job of returning the valuables to the families of the victims. Their hard work and dedication have made a big change in the lives of many people. Salute to these heroes.”
Earlier, Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi had said that whatever goods have been found from the accident site will be handed over to their families after investigation.
241 people, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, died in the Air India aircraft accident. Only one passenger is left in the accident, who is a British citizen of Indian origin.
