New Delhi. In the midst of increasing tension in India-Pakistan, Air India on Thursday advised passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before the scheduled departure time. In a post on social media platform ‘X’, the airline said that in view of the order of the Civil Aviation Security Bureau to increase security measures at the airport, “passengers from across India are advised to arrive at least three hours before the scheduled departure at their respective airports to ensure smooth check-in and boarding”.
“The check-in closes 75 minutes before departure,” the airline said.
This advice came after airstrikes targeted by Pakistan by targeting several military stations near Jammu and Western border, which was successfully thwarted by India’s air defense system. Drone and missile attack attempts played blackouts and sirens in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan.
The authorities urged the residents to stay indoors and be cautious as the emergency protocols were active. India has retaliated in view of the attacks. Earlier in the day, domestic airline companies canceled around 430 flights on Thursday, which is about three percent of the total fixed flights in the country, as 27 airports will remain closed till May 10.
The affected airport includes Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda, Halwara, Pathankot, Bhuntar, Shimla, Gaggal, Dharamshala, Kishangarh, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Mundra, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Kandla, Keshod, Bhundan and Hindan.
Now, some more airports have been added to the list due to increasing stress.
More than 300 flights were canceled on Wednesday and operated at 21 airports in North and Western India.
