Tata Group’s airline company Air India has cancelled all flights to Dhaka with immediate effect in view of the violent protests in Bangladesh. The airline has said that the safety of our travel and crew is of paramount importance for us. Amidst the ongoing violent protests in Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned from her post and left the country. After this decision of the airline, neither will there be a flight from India to Dhaka nor will any flight come from Dhaka to India. Apart from this, the impact of the ongoing protests is also being seen on air traffic at Dhaka Shahjalal International Airport.

Air India wrote in its social media post- In view of the emerging situation in Bangladesh, we have canceled scheduled operations of our flights to and from Dhaka with immediate effect. We are constantly monitoring the situation and providing assistance to our passengers with confirmed bookings to and from Dhaka, including rescheduling and a one-time waiver of cancellation charges. Dhaka airport was shut down
According to the Dhaka Tribune, after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government, the authorities have announced the closure of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for the next six hours from 5:30 pm on Monday. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has given this information in a notification. ISPR said that no aircraft will take off or land at this time and the terminal will remain closed. Earlier, (HSIA) Executive Director Captain Kamrul Islam said that all operations at the airport have been stopped. He said that updated information about the airport will be given to the media later.
