Alert regarding monkeypox, isolation wards ready in these hospitals of Delhi, suspected patients will come here


MPox Outbreak: The threat of monkeypox has started increasing in India after spreading from Central Africa to other countries of the world. Recently, due to monkeypox positive patients found in India’s neighboring country Pakistan and POK, the Indian government has declared an alert regarding this disease. Due to this, the Union Health Ministry has also made 3 hospitals of Delhi as nodal centers for monkeypox. Along with this, surveillance has been increased at the borders and airports.

These three hospitals became nodal centers
Lady Hardinge Medical College, RML Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital have been made nodal hospitals for monkeypox in Delhi by the central government. Isolation wards have been created for monkeypox patients in these hospitals. Where patients will be kept under observation along with treatment. If a monkeypox positive patient is found anywhere, he can be admitted to these hospitals.

This arrangement will be done in AIIMS New Delhi
Dr. Reema Dada, Professor and Media Cell Incharge at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, said that the Central Government has made 3 hospitals in Delhi nodal for monkeypox. Safdarjung is included in this. While 5 beds have been reserved for suspected monkeypox patients in AIIMS. If any patient shows symptoms of monkeypox or a suspected patient comes, he will be shifted to these beds.

Ward in Delhi government’s LNJP too
Apart from the Central Government, an isolation ward has been set up for monkeypox patients in Delhi Government’s Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital. The management informed that although no monkeypox patient has come to the hospital yet, but if one comes, he will be kept in this ward.

Be careful of these symptoms
The symptoms of monkeypox are usually similar to those of chickenpox or smallpox. These include blisters, rashes or pimples on the face or any part of the body. These pimples may contain yellow pus. Itching on the skin, vomiting, fever, headache, muscle stiffness, fainting etc. are its symptoms. If you notice any such symptoms, go to the doctor immediately.

Monkeypox cases have been reported in 116 countries
According to the WHO statement, 99,176 cases of ampox have been reported in 116 countries since 2022, while 208 people have died due to this disease.

Let us tell you that in view of the global emergency, the central government has also ordered to improve the network of laboratories for testing this disease. Currently, 32 laboratories have been kept for ampox testing.
