Haryana Police has succeeded in arresting Maulana Arshad, resident of Bubalheri and Rashid, resident of Palwal district, who were cheating people and extorting money in the name of giving kanyadan in the marriage of daughters (brides) in Nuh. Police have found that around Rs 14 crores have been embezzled by the accused by defrauding 1400 people in the name of Kanyadaan.
It is being told that both the accused, citing different schemes, used to take packages ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh for giving Kanyadaan in the marriage of their daughters. In this package, a motorcycle Splendor, complete wedding accessories and Rs 21,000 in cash were given as Kanyadaan by the accused. In this case, Zubeida, a resident of Nangal Shahpur of Tehsil Nagina, gave a complaint on April 1, 2024, in which she said that Maulana Arshad, Rashid and his other associates cheated her and embezzled an amount of Rs 1 lakh 10 thousand from her about 2 months ago.
This amount was taken from the woman by the accused after promising her to give a motorcycle Splendor, complete wedding paraphernalia and Rs 21,000 in cash as Kanyadaan. In this case, after registering a case against all the above mentioned people in Nagina police station under relevant sections, the team formed under the leadership of Inspector Ratan Singh and manager of Nagina police station, on Tuesday, on the basis of secret information, arrested the accused Rashid from Badkali Chowk Nagina and Maulana Arshad from village Bubalhedi. Arrested.
On first interrogation, both the accused, with the help of their other associates, have confessed to fraudulently taking Rs 14 crore from about 1400 people in the name of giving them as Kanyadaan in their daughter’s marriage. Both the accused were produced in the court and taken on police remand for four days. He is being interrogated thoroughly in this matter.
