New Delhi. Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu, who joined the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress party in Andhra Pradesh on 28 December, resigned from the party on 6 January. Rayudu, known for his impressive cricket career, had spent just two weeks in the political arena before deciding to step down. In a statement posted on social media, he announced his resignation and expressed his intention to stay away from politics for some time. The sudden decision sparked controversy and Rayudu did not give any specific reason for his departure and said he would reveal his next move at an appropriate time.
After his resignation from cricket in May 2023, Rayudu will join Chief Minister Y.S. Key Jagan Mohan Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Narayana Swamy and Lok Sabha member P. Mithun Reddy joined the YSRCP in attendance. Despite winning five IPL trophies with Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, Rayudu decided to enter politics but had to step back within a short period of time.

Rayudu won the IPL trophy five times, three times with Mumbai Indians (2013, 2015, 2017) and twice with Chennai Super Kings (2018, 2021). This cricketer had a successful ODI career and he played 55 matches for India. Rayudu scored 1694 runs in ODIs with an impressive average of 47.06 and strike rate of 79.05. He has three centuries in his name in ODI, in which his highest score is 124 runs. Rayudu, along with captain MS Dhoni, played an important role in the victories of Chennai Super Kings in 2018 and 2021.
