America is 'satisfied' with India's response to the plot to kill Pannu, NSA said - this was a matter behind closed doors

The talks between India and America on the murder of separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu have reached a fruitful conclusion. America has expressed its satisfaction with the reply given by India on this matter. US National Security Advisor -NSA Jake Sullivan has said that the talks with India regarding the allegations of conspiracy to murder Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu have been respectful and effective, as it is taking place behind closed doors. The alleged involvement of an Indian government official has been claimed in this conspiracy.

In November last year, US federal prosecutors accused Indian national Nikhil Gupta of working with an Indian government employee in a failed plot to murder Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in New York. Nikhil Gupta was arrested in the Czech Republic in June last year and extradited to the US on June 14.

Jake Sullivan said that there have been constructive talks with India on this issue. We have made it clear what our stand is on this and what we want to see. He said that the talks have been respectful and effective, because they are taking place behind closed doors.

Sullivan said this at the ‘Aspen Security Forum’ in Colorado in response to a question about the allegations related to the attempted murder of Pannu. Regarding the talks with India, Sullivan said, ‘I don’t think there is much value in talking publicly about the nature of that conversation. This is a sensitive issue. We are working on it… We have had constructive talks with India on this issue.’
