Supaul. While many districts of Bihar are in the grip of severe heat, the Kosi river in Supaul has increased the worries of the farmers. The water level of the Kosi river has started rising rapidly, due to which the areas situated within the embankment have been submerged. The administration is monitoring the situation and has started preparations to deal with the possible danger. In fact, due to continuous heavy rains in the hilly area of Nepal in the last few days, the flow of water in the Kosi river has increased. The water level of the river is increasing rapidly, due to which waterlogging has occurred in the surrounding low-lying areas.
The crops of the farmers have been submerged due to which they have suffered a lot. At the same time, people are also angry due to lack of proper arrangement of boats. The history of Kosi river has been associated with floods, due to which this area is also known as ‘Sorrow of Bihar’.
The continuous rise in the water level of Kosi river has created a huge problem for the farmers of Supaul district. Water is wreaking havoc on the crops spread within the embankment, due to which the hard work of the farmers has gone waste. An increase in the discharge of Kosi river is being seen since morning. The highest discharge so far has been recorded at 1 lakh 79 thousand cusecs. At present there is no danger but the farmers have suffered a lot due to the sudden arrival of water.
