Amritsar . Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria visited Shri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) on Tuesday and attended the Palki Sahib ceremony. During this time he experienced the unique confluence of devotion and reverence. The Governor visited the Palki Sahib held at dawn and actively participated in this sacred ceremony. He shoulders Palki Sahib and described him as a memorable moment of his life.
Governor Kataria said, “I gave my shoulder to Palki Sahib and I feel very lucky. This is an unforgettable experience for me.”
He said that he had received information about the importance of Palki Sahib from the Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), after which his desire to come here became stronger. He said, “I wanted to see Guru Sahib and take his blessings, and today this wish was fulfilled.”
During this time, Governor Kataria saw floral rain and deep faith of devotees, which left a deep impression on his mind. He said, “Flower saw rain, saw the faith of the devotees and saw the respect coming out of their heart. Seeing all this, the mind was filled with reverence.”
He also mentioned his campaign against drug addiction on the occasion and said that Guru Sahib’s blessings are very important for him in this war. He said, “Guru Sahib’s blessings will give us strength in the war that we have started against drugs.”
The officials of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) welcomed and greeted Governor Gulab Chand Kataria. On this occasion, senior officials of the committee also presented a memento to him as a honor. The Governor appreciated the efforts of the committee and said that the sanctity of the Golden Temple and the system here is inspiring to everyone.
During this visit, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria also underlined the historical and spiritual significance of the Golden Temple. He said that this place is a symbol of peace and unity not only for the Sikh community, but for all humanity. In his brief address, he also appealed to the devotees to unite against drugs and to contribute to improving the society.
