Pakistan High Commission has confirmed sending mangoes to Indian MPs. According to High Commission sources, mangoes are sent every year as per tradition. The MPs to whom mango packets have been sent by the Pakistani High Commission include opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor, Samajwadi Party MP from Rampur Mohibullah Nadvi, SP MP Zia ur Rehman Barq, Ghazipur MP Afzal Ansari and Kairana MP Iqra Hasan.

MPs first denied
As soon as this news came out, many MPs initially denied receiving mangoes. A statement was issued by the office of SP MP Mohibullah Nadvi. It was told that he did not receive any packet. Shashi Tharoor also said on camera that he did not receive anything from the Pakistan High Commission. Tharoor said, neither did I receive anything from the Pakistan High Commission before nor did I receive mangoes now… But later sources from the High Commission confirmed that mangoes have been sent to the MPs.

BJP asked-what is this relationship after all?
On the other hand, BJP took the opposition alliance to task on this issue. Union Minister Giriraj Singh said, Pakistan has sent mangoes, is there some evil conspiracy going on between Pakistan and Congress? Many other leaders cornered Congress. They asked what is this relationship?

Earlier India also used to send mangoes to China
Let us tell you that mango has been used as a tool of diplomacy for years. Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also used to send mangoes to Indian Prime Ministers every year. She has also sent mangoes to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee several times. Foreign Ministry files show that India had adopted similar diplomacy with China before the China war in the 1950s.
