Are desk workers really at greater risk of diabetes?
Dr. Paras Aggarwal said that bad lifestyle is mainly responsible for diabetes or high blood pressure. People who do desk work, work sitting on a chair most of the time. Those whose work has to be done in real time have to work sitting at the computer for hours. Obviously, in these situations, there can be a higher risk of not only high blood sugar but also high blood pressure and other diseases. Now the question is whether employed people are more at risk of diabetes. Dr. Paras Aggarwal said that people who work sitting in the same position for hours and do not do any exercise are definitely at risk of diabetes. On the other hand, people who are doing desk work but exercise regularly, sleep on time, wake up on time, have good eating habits, then such people do not have that much risk of diabetes. Dr. Paras Aggarwal told that to avoid any disease, it is important how you manage your lifestyle.
What to do so that sugar does not increase while doing desk work?
Dr. Paras Aggarwal told that according to what is known so far, bad lifestyle is responsible for high blood sugar. Of course, the exact reason for this is not known but if the sugar has increased even a little then it can increase further due to bad lifestyle. Therefore, the easy solution is to correct your lifestyle. Do desk work but do not sit in one position on a chair for more than half an hour. Keep getting up from the chair. Get up from the chair every hour or less. After an hour, get up from the chair for at least 5 minutes and keep doing body movements. Use stairs more in office. Even on the chair, keep raising your hands and stretching your legs back and forth. Whenever you get a chance, take a brisk walk in the office.
Do this work after office
Dr. Paras Aggarwal told that apart from office, you will have to correct your lifestyle. For this, first of all correct your eating habits. If your eating habits are right then you will be saved from many diseases. Consume green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits daily. Try to include three out of four parts of your diet with natural things like green vegetables, whole grains, fresh fruits, coarse grains etc. After this you can consume dairy products and fish etc. The less you consume animal products, the more benefits you will get. Do not consume too much red meat. Apart from diet, sleep early at night and wake up early in the morning. After this, continued doing exercises and physical activities regularly. Walking, cycling, swimming, running is the best way to avoid lifestyle related diseases. Along with this, consume seasonal green vegetables, fruits etc. regularly. Stay away from cigarettes and alcohol. Don’t take stress. Get enough sleep at night.
