New Delhi: Due to increasing terrorist activities in Jammu region, the number of troops in the area has been increased. Inter command change has been done to eliminate terrorists from the area. The number of troops has been increased in Kathua, Samba, Kathua, Doda, Badarwah, Kishtwar. Troops have also been sent from the Western Command. Such a big change has been made for the first time after the face-off with the Chinese Army PLA in Ladakh (April 2020).
Terrorist attacks have increased in recent times
Last Monday, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, four army personnel including a captain were martyred in a fierce encounter with heavily armed terrorists of the Pakistani terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed. This was the third major terrorist incident in three weeks in the Jammu region. A week before this attack on Monday night, terrorists had ambushed an army patrol vehicle in Kathua district, in which five soldiers were martyred and the same number of army personnel were injured.
On Monday, Captain Brijesh Thapa from Darjeeling, Naik Dokkari Rajesh from Andhra Pradesh, and Sepoys Bijendra and Ajay Kumar Singh from Rajasthan were injured in the firing in the Desa forest area. The National Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel had launched a cordon and search operation there.
The terrorists also attacked the bus of pilgrims
Earlier on July 9, the terrorists fled after an encounter with security forces in the Ghadi Bhagwah forest bordering Kishtwar district. Earlier on June 26, three terrorists were killed in a day-long operation in Gandoh area of the district. Similarly, anti-terrorism operations were intensified in Doda after five army personnel and a special police officer were injured in a fierce firing on June 12.
A policeman was injured in another encounter in Gandoh the next day. The Jammu region remained relatively peaceful after the security forces wiped out terrorism between 2005 and 2021, but the region witnessed a rise in terrorist attacks last month. This includes an attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in which nine people were killed and 40 injured. (Input-language)
