New Delhi. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, who is lodged in Tihar Jail in the liquor scam case, probably does not expect to be released by August 15! This seems to be the case from a recent letter by Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has sent a letter to the Lieutenant Governor, i.e. LG. In this letter, Arvind Kejriwal has written that on August 15, Delhi government minister Atishi will hoist the flag in his place.
In this letter sent to LG, the responsibility of hoisting the flag has been given to Atishi, which clearly shows that Arvind Kejriwal does not have any hope that he will get relief till 15th August. Recently, Delhi High Court gave a setback to Arvind Kejriwal in the case of his arrest by CBI and rejected his interim bail. Delhi High Court said that Arvind Kejriwal can apply in the trial court to get bail. Earlier, Supreme Court had granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal in the case of his arrest by ED in the liquor scam. Before that, CBI had arrested him and taken him on remand. If Arvind Kejriwal had got bail from Delhi High Court also, he would have come out of Tihar Jail.
Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by ED in March 2024. ED has described Arvind Kejriwal as the kingpin of the liquor scam. ED alleges that Arvind Kejriwal took a bribe of Rs 100 crore from the people of South Cartel involved in the liquor scam for his Aam Aadmi Party. ED also claims that out of this amount of Rs 100 crore, Arvind Kejriwal spent Rs 45 crore in campaigning for his party candidates during the assembly elections in Goa. At the same time, Arvind Kejriwal says that there was no liquor scam in Delhi. He also says that ED and CBI have not been able to recover even a single penny from the bribe amount till now. These arguments of Arvind Kejriwal could not work in the trial court and Delhi High Court. His bail plea kept getting rejected from both the places.
