New Delhi. Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal will now have to stay in Tihar Jail again. The Supreme Court had granted Arvind Kejriwal 21 days interim bail for campaigning during the Lok Sabha elections. This period is ending today. Arvind Kejriwal has to surrender in Tihar Jail by 5 pm. Arvind Kejriwal was sent to judicial custody by the trial court in the liquor scam case.
After getting bail from the Supreme Court, Arvind Kejriwal campaigned for elections in many places including Punjab and Delhi. During the campaign, Kejriwal had told the public that if he helps the opposition alliance win and form the government, he will not have to go to jail again. At the same time, Arvind Kejriwal had also applied for interim bail in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court citing medical tests, but after hearing the arguments of the ED, the court rejected Arvind Kejriwal’s bail application yesterday i.e. on Saturday.
Arvind Kejriwal has been called the kingpin or the biggest accused in the Delhi liquor scam case by the ED. Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED for not appearing after sending summons 9 times. Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party leaders are constantly claiming that there was no liquor scam. They argue that the ED or the CBI have not found a single penny of the alleged scam. At the same time, the ED says that the Aam Aadmi Party took a bribe of Rs 100 crore from the South Cartel by doing the liquor scam and spent Rs 45 crore out of it in the Goa Assembly elections. In this case, K. Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana CM Chandrashekhar Rao, associated with the South Cartel, and Manish Sisodia, who was the Deputy CM in the Kejriwal government, are also in jail. At the same time, many accused have become government witnesses.
