New Delhi. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has filed another application in the Delhi High Court. In this application, Arvind Kejriwal has said that he is ready to appear before the ED, but the investigating agency should give assurance of not arresting him. Kejriwal’s lawyers had said the same thing on Wednesday during the hearing of his first petition filed in the Delhi High Court. ED had sent summons to Arvind Kejriwal today to appear before him. Till now, ED has given 9 summons to Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor scam case and 1 summons in the Delhi Jal Board case.
Arvind Kejriwal did not appear despite all the summons of ED in the liquor scam case. After the first summons of ED, Kejriwal said that he is busy in the assembly elections of 5 states. On the second summons he said that he could not appear because he was going to do Vipassana in Punjab. After this, Arvind Kejriwal refused to appear before the ED summons, calling it politically motivated and illegal. ED had gone to Rouse Avenue court against this. From where Kejriwal was asked to appear. Kejriwal appealed against this in the sessions court, but did not get any relief. After which he appeared in the court recently and got bail from there.
Arvind Kejriwal then moved the Delhi High Court. Kejriwal applied in the High Court to declare the ED summons illegal. On this, Delhi High Court had asked why Kejriwal is not appearing before the ED? On this, Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyer had said that ED should assure that it will not take any action. ED has already arrested Manish Sisodia, who was deputy CM in Kejriwal government, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in the liquor scam case. Telangana CM Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter K. Kavita has also been arrested by ED. ED has also named Kejriwal in the charge sheet filed against Kavita.
