The final of the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad on 26 May. Under the captaincy of Pat Cummins, the Hyderabad team defeated the Rajasthan Royals team by 36 runs in the second qualifier match of this season and made it to the final. Pat Cummins was made a part of the Hyderabad team by the franchise for Rs 19 crore 50 lakh during the player auction for this season and after that he was also given the captaincy of the team. Hyderabad’s explosive performance was seen on the field this season. With the Hyderabad team reaching the final, Cummins has now become a part of a special list of captains in IPL history.

When the Sunrisers Hyderabad team started this season under the captaincy of Pat Cummins, they had to face defeat in the first match by 4 runs. After this, Hyderabad made a great comeback and won 5 out of the first 7 matches. After this, their place for the playoffs was almost confirmed. Hyderabad finished second in the league stage. However, in the first qualifier match, they definitely had to face a one-sided defeat against KKR. Pat Cummins has now become the 9th foreign captain in IPL history, under whose captaincy the team has confirmed its place in the final.
