UP Election Results 2022: AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen), which is searching for its political ground by raising the issue of ignoring Muslims in Uttar Pradesh, has again failed. After 2017 even in the elections of 18th assembly, no candidate of AIMIM could even come close to victory. Party’s national president and MP Asaduddin Owaisi came again in Uttar Pradesh this time and raised the issue of keeping Muslims away from education, health and employment. Especially by raising the question of the political participation of the OBC section of the Muslim society, Owaisi also tried to break into the vote bank of SP, but every move was unsuccessful.
Asaduddin Owaisi’s response
After the humiliating defeat of the party candidates in the UP elections, Asaduddin Owaisi said, the people of UP have decided to give power to the BJP. I respect the decision of the people. I thank the state presidents, workers, members and public of AIMIM who voted for us. We worked hard, but the results did not come as per our expectations. We will work hard again.
AIMIM entered the politics of Uttar Pradesh for the first time in the 2017 assembly elections and fielded its candidates on 38 seats. Then the deposits of its candidates in 37 seats were forfeited. This time the party fielded its candidates on 103 seats. Among them, MLA Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali, who left the BSP, also took shelter of AIMIM. Guddu Jamali, who contested from Mubarakpur seat of Azamgarh, which came second in the list of richest candidates, could show some effect from the party’s side. He finished second in this seat. In the 2017 elections also, only one candidate of the party was able to show some stamina in Sambhal. In the last election, the share of AIMIM was 0.2 percent of the vote. This time 0.47 percent votes have come in his account.
