New Delhi. The Central Election Commission has decided to increase the limit of election expenditure for election candidates in parliamentary and assembly constituencies. According to the commission, the new spending limit will be applicable in all upcoming elections. This limit will be applicable for the assembly elections to be held in five states of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa, Manipur and Uttar Pradesh. Let us inform that after meeting with various political parties, the Election Commission can soon announce the dates of assembly elections in five states.
Now you can spend so much in elections
The Central Election Commission has now increased the amount of expenditure in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. According to the tweet made by the spokesperson of the Commission, now the amount spent in the constituencies of the Assembly and Lok Sabha candidates has been increased. This new spending limit will come into effect from the coming elections.

Under the new spending limit, candidates will now be able to spend Rs 95 lakh in parliamentary constituencies. Whereas earlier this amount was Rs 70 lakh. Along with this, the expenditure limit of candidates in assembly constituencies has been increased to Rs 40 lakh. Whereas earlier this spending limit used to be Rs 28 lakh.
Expenditure scope increased before elections
According to the new order for small states, the election expenditure limit for candidates has been increased from the existing 20 lakhs to 28 lakhs.
On the other hand, the expenditure limit for big states has been increased from Rs 28 lakh to Rs 40 lakh.
Expenditure limit in case of parliamentary constituencies in smaller states has been increased to Rs.75 lakhs from the existing Rs.54 lakhs.
Wherein in big states, the expenditure amount has been increased from Rs 70 lakh to Rs 95 lakh.

Due to this increase in the amount of expenditure
The Election Commission has increased the spending limit due to inflation and increase in the number of voters. In fact, the number of voters in the country was 833 million in 2014, which has increased to 936 million in 2021.
Let us inform that all the political parties had asked to refrain from postponing the elections despite the corona infection and the beginning of the third wave. In such a situation, the dates can be announced by the Central Election Commission any day in the coming days.
