New Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal government minister Atishi Singh will not be able to hoist the flag in place of the CM on 15 August i.e. Independence Day this time. Delhi government’s General Administration Department i.e. GAD has rejected CM Arvind Kejriwal’s proposal to give Atishi the right to hoist the flag. Citing rules, GAD has rejected Atishi’s proposal to hoist the flag. Let us tell you that on 15 August, only the PM and CM conduct the main flag hoisting program on behalf of the central and state government. Whereas, ministers and common people can hoist the flag at their residence.
Arvind Kejriwal had recently expressed his wish to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, that Minister Atishi should do the flag hoisting ceremony to be held at the Chhatrasal Stadium in the capital. Minister Gopal Rai had written a letter on this wish of Arvind Kejriwal. Every year the Delhi government organizes the flag hoisting program on 15 August at the Chhatrasal Stadium. This time Arvind Kejriwal is in jail. In such a situation, he cannot hoist the flag. In such a situation, Arvind Kejriwal wanted that in his place, Minister Atishi of the Delhi Government should hoist the flag on behalf of the state government at the Chhatrasal Stadium, but with the decision of the GAD, this intention of Kejriwal does not seem to be fulfilled. Politics has also intensified in this matter. Former Deputy CM of Delhi and Manish Sisodia, who was recently released from jail on bail, has called the ban on Atishi’s flag hoisting unfortunate. He said that this is a sacred occasion and even then dirty politics is being done.

Earlier, GAD had clearly stated on the letter of Gopal Rai expressing Arvind Kejriwal’s wish that the concerned minister i.e. Atishi is not among those who have been given the right under the rules. GAD wrote that the right to hoist the flag cannot be given to anyone else by breaking the rules.
