Source: UN News: Tuesday, 29 July 2025 00:01 am

From Pakistan and Iran, there have been cases of forced torture of those who were forcibly sent back to Afghanistan. In a report released by the United Nations on Thursday, the Afghan people who returned home have faced serious human rights violations in the country. These include torture, arbitrary arrests, and threats to kill them. A former TV reporter had left the country in August 2021 due to threats of the Taleban. But when he was forcibly sent back from Pakistan in 2024, he got an invisible imprisonment, not freedom. According to the UN report, he said, “There is no employment for me, there is no freedom to raise voice, and I can clearly say that I am effectively ignored at home.” This report based on the testimony of 49 people like them, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (Unama) And United Nations Human Rights Office Has released Tweet url

It has been clearly revealed in the report that forcibly returned people – especially women, former security forces officers, journalists and workers of civil society – are constantly victims of vengeance, oppression and human rights violations of Taleban regime. According to Chintanakriport, the condition of the people associated with the former administration, even though the Taleban has announced the common man, even though many former government officials and security personnel have announced the common man. After that he has to live life continuously. One such former official said that immediately after his return in 2023, he was kept captive in a secret place for two nights, where he was brutally beaten with sticks, wires and wood, was tortured in water, and finally terrorized through fake hanging. During this cruelty, their legs broke. Women deprived of fundamental rights like horrific condition, movement and education for women are specifically suffering social oppression. The United Nations Human Rights Chief Volkar Turk has said, “No one should not be sent back to a country where they are not to know the harassment in Afghanistan due to their identity or personal history.” It is even more serious, who only face various types of harassment based on their gender. ”To send a person back to the country where he is a violation of the principle of non-reformment. It is an original pillar of international human rights and refugee laws and doing so falls under the category of serious violations of international law and a clear appeal to all countries in the appellaters to carefully and evaluate the situation of each person, and do not send any person back to Afghanistan who should have a real disgrace of serious human rights violations or oppression. © Un Women/Sayed Habib Bidell, as well, countries have been urged to provide alternative and safe avenues for the Afghan people, so that they can safely take refuge in other countries without fear and live life without fear of exile. The forced return of millions of Afghan people from Pakistan and Iran has already put pressure on weak arrangements. The report also emphasized that other countries should increase financial assistance for long -term rehabilitation and support of Afghan refugees, to ensure their safe and respectable rehabilitation. UN Secretary -General Special Representative Rosa Otunbayeva said, “Until all Afghan people get equal participation in social, political and economic life, the progress of the country will be incomplete.” “I urge the Taleban to fulfill their responsibilities under international laws and protect their people’s rights.”
