New Delhi. Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Congress during a discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. He said that the Waqf Amendment Bill is not just a bill, it is ‘hope’. This ‘hope’ contains Empowerment, Executive and Development. For this reason, people from all over the country are in support of this bill today.
Anurag Thakur said that many important institutions have supported the bill, including Catholic, Bishop Council of India, Church of India, Kerala Council of Churches, Kerala Catholic Bishop Council and many institutions like All India Sajjadanshin Council, Muslim National Forum.
For this support, he thanked these institutions and said that the time has come to change the Waqf as it has become a base of atrocities and corruption. He clearly stated that India needs freedom from the fear of Waqf.
Anurag Thakur attacked the previous government and said that the Waqf Board that was formed during the time of the Congress, the meaning of ‘account, which is called Waqf’, that is, if the Waqf Board said that the land was its land, then that land would become their land. It was not the responsibility of Waqf to tell how this land became his. Giving examples, he said that those whose land went, they used to wander from rate to rate to get their land throughout their life.
Anurag Thakur also said that the Congress party has spread confusion throughout the country and has continued to spread the confusion. He said that the Congress runs with a red book, which it calls the Constitution, but it is not a constitution. He also told that if you look at the constitution carefully, it would be clear that Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s dream was that there would be only one constitution in a country, but the Congress has done two legislations in one country. Now it is above the public whether she wants to live with the Constitution or with Waqf.
The BJP leader said that he wants to answer those who had earlier made big statements. He said, “This is India, not Pakistan or Taliban (ruled country). Here Baba Saheb’s constitution will run, no clan decree.”
He said that we are not only discussing the Waqf Bill, but we are challenging a parallel power, which has been uncontrolled for decades. Waqf Amendment Bill, 2025 is not only a change in law, but it is a clear message that only one law will run in the country and that is the Constitution of India. Nothing can happen above the constitution.
The Union Minister said that the Waqf Board aims to manage properties for the welfare of the Muslim community. But the Congress and its allies gave it political patronage and made it a tool of their vote bank. He alleged that the Congress and its allies run Waqf in such a way that it became a base of corruption and opacity. Anurag Thakur also said that India had seen a partition in 1947, which was caused by a party and family. Now they will not allow another division in the name of land.
Anurag Thakur, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, talked about the ‘one country, one law’ and a constitution and said that this government will bring transparency and through it the responsibility will be fixed. He also alleged that people for whom the Waqf Board has become a vote bank tool, their leaders are stranded in many cases of corruption.
He questioned that after 1947, the amendment of the Waqf Act was amended, which made the law so complicated that it had become impossible to challenge it.
