Final Panghal
Bad news is coming for India from Paris Olympics. Accreditation of female wrestler Antim Panghal has been cancelled. Antim’s sister was trying to enter the sports village with a wrong accreditation card. During this, she was stopped and then Paris police issued summons to Antim. After the French authorities brought the matter of disciplinary violation to the notice of the IOA, the Indian Olympic Association has decided to send back wrestler Antim and her support staff.
After losing her match, Anant Panghal went to a hotel where her personal coach and teammates were staying. She then gave her accreditation card to her sister and asked her to bring her luggage from the Games Village. Meanwhile, her sister was caught trying to enter the Games Village. She was detained by the Paris police and was allowed to leave only after India’s intervention. The Olympic Association (IOA) has now asked Anant, her sister, her coach (Bhagat Singh) and her teammate (Vikas) to leave Paris on the next flight which will be at 4 am tomorrow.
It is worth noting that Anim Panghal was eliminated from the Paris Olympics on Wednesday after a humiliating 0-10 defeat to Turkey’s Yetgil Zeynep in the women’s 53kg category. 19-year-old Anim’s hopes of remaining in the race for the bronze medal through repechage also got shattered when Zeynep lost to Germany’s Annika Wendl in the quarter-finals. Earlier, the bronze medalist of the World Cup Championship and the Olympic quota holder in this category lost in just 101 seconds. Earlier Vinesh used to play in this weight category.
