Lahore. There is a wave of mourning in the cricket world due to the demise of the former chief who served the Pakistan Cricket Board for a long time. The news of the demise of Shahryar Khan, who played an important role in restoring cricket relations with India in the early 2000s, has come to light. The former chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) passed away on Saturday. He was 89 years old.
Shahryar Khan, a relative of former Indian captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, was ill for a long time. He was born in Bhopal. He was the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan between 1990 and 1994. Apart from this, he was also the High Commissioner of Pakistan to India and the United Kingdom. Shahryar became the Chairman of PCB for the first time between 2003 and 2006. Meanwhile, the Indian team had visited Pakistan twice. After this, he also held the responsibility of PCB chief from 2014 to 2017.

He was the manager of the Pakistan team during the 1999 Indian tour of Pakistan and the 2003 ODI World Cup. He belonged to the royal family of Bhopal. Current PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed condolences on his demise.

He said, “On behalf of the PCB, I express my deep condolences and sorrow on the demise of former chairman Shahryar Khan. He was a good administrator and served Pakistan cricket with utmost dedication. Pakistan cricket will remain indebted to Shahryar Khan for his services in the development of the game in the country.
