Bahrod. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Anuradha won by defeating Independent candidate Karmaveer Yadav by a minor margin of one vote in the by -election held on Sunday for the post of Bahrod Panchayat Samiti Deputy Principal.
Election Officer Ramkishore Yadav said that after counting, Anuradha got 8 votes, while Karmaveer Yadav got 7 votes. After this victory, Anuradha was administered the oath of office in the presence of MLA Dr. Jaswant Yadav.
This by-election had to be held because Bahrod Municipality was made the city council after Kotputli-Bahrod was made a new district. In the delimitation, ward number 13 of the Panchayat Samiti, whose member Gajraj Yadav was the first Deputy Principal, was included in the city council, which made the post vacant.
There was an atmosphere of glory at the polling station since morning. Supporters of both the candidates were present in large numbers. Several Panchayat Samiti members were directly brought to the polling station from the fence. During the voting, supporters of former independent MLA Baljit Yadav protested against the people and women present inside the polling station. In view of this, the police administration had tightened the security system and prohibited the entry of any outsider.
The election branch and the Panchayat Samiti kept this election confidential, due to which people came to know about the election only after seeing barricading and traffic diversion in the morning.
