Dhaka: Bangladesh Army Chief General Vakar-uz-Zaman has made a big disclosure. He said that after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina from the post of Prime Minister, some influential people of the Awami League government have been provided shelter to protect them from any attack. According to the news of the ‘Daily Star’ newspaper, after meeting the army, police and administration officials in Rajshahi Cantonment, General Zaman said that while giving shelter to those people, no attention was paid to their party, opinion or religion. In response to a question, he said, “If there is any allegation against them and any case is registered, they will be punished. But of course, we do not want any attack or extrajudicial action (against them). We have given shelter because their lives are in danger.”

He was arrested from the airport

It is also worth noting that after the coup in Bangladesh, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud and former State Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak were arrested from Dhaka airport last week. Meanwhile, it is worth mentioning here that a murder case has been registered against former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and six others over the death of a grocery shop owner during violent clashes last month. This is the first case registered against Hasina (76), who resigned and came to India last week after widespread protests against her Awami League-led government over the controversial job reservation system.
