If the claims of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials are to be believed, Nazmul Hasan has offered to resign from the post of BCB President. Nazmul has been in this position for a long time but as soon as the tension in Bangladesh increased, he left the country and went to London. From there, he has offered to resign from his post of president.
According to a Cricbuzz report, some of the Bangladesh Cricket Board directors residing in Dhaka met on August 14 to discuss their next course of action. Not only this, for the past few days, many former BCB officials have been visiting the Dhaka Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium to demand the resignation of Nazmul and his close ones. Let us tell you, Nazmul’s term ends in October 2025.
Threat to hosting T20 World Cup
Due to the upheaval in the Bangladesh Cricket Board, it is clear that the hosting of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will go to some other country. This year, the Women’s T20 World Cup was to be organized in Bangladesh but due to the political crisis in the country, the ICC is now considering giving the hosting of the tournament to some other country. The apex body of cricket, the International Cricket Council i.e. ICC, can give its decision on this by August 20.
Bangladesh team on Pakistan tour
Amid the turmoil in the country, the Bangladesh cricket team has reached Pakistan to play a Test series. On this tour, a 2-match Test series will begin between the two countries from August 21. The first Test will be played in Rawalpindi. The second Test will be played at the National Cricket Stadium in Karachi from August 30. After the Pakistan tour, Bangladesh will come to India for 2 Tests and 3 T20I matches. Bangladesh’s India tour will begin from September 19.
