Dhaka: The families of those killed in the protests in Bangladesh have put forward 11 point demands including jobs and rehabilitation before the soon to be formed interim government. An interim government is being formed in the country after Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left the country. The death toll in the anti-government protests in Bangladesh rose to 440 on Tuesday, most of whom are student protesters.

Data is being collected

A statement signed by Haroon-ur Rashid, convener of the committee formed regarding those injured and killed during the anti-reservation movement, said that an initiative has been taken to collect accurate data on the families of students, children, youth, elderly and women injured and killed in the violence.

11 point demands have been placed

According to the Dhaka Tribune report, 11-point demands have been put forward for the families of those killed and injured in the agitation, which include granting 2,000-3,000 taka (Bangladeshi currency) per month to all students up to postgraduate level based on age under the ‘food-card’ program, giving 3,000 taka unemployment allowance to those seeking jobs and prompt rehabilitation of the affected families. The demands also include giving direct government scholarships to students in private universities and renaming educational institutions established in the name of various persons of Sheikh Hasina’s family, Dhaka Tribune reported.

Chaos in Bangladesh

Let us tell you that chaos spread in Bangladesh on Monday when Sheikh Hasina suddenly resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left the country in a military plane. As soon as the news of Hasina leaving the country spread, hundreds of people broke into her residence and vandalized and looted it. The protesters attacked Hasina’s residence ‘Sudha Sadan’ and other establishments in the capital and vandalized and set fire to it. Residences and business establishments of ministers, party MPs and leaders of Hasina’s Awami League government located in Dhaka and outside Dhaka have also been targeted. (Language)
