Uttar Pradesh News Desk More than one and a half dozen children and men and women are suffering from vomiting and diarrhea in two settlements of Kurki Kala village of Vikas Khand Meja. Among them, 40-year-old Saroja Devi, wife of Jagdish Yadav of Yadav Basti, suffering from diarrhea, died. As soon as someone informed the Additional Director of Health Department and CMO about the death of the woman due to vomiting and diarrhea, there was a stir. Both the officers started inquiring about the incident from the Superintendent of CHC Meja.
District epidemiologist Dr. Anshu Tyagi was sent to Kurki Kala village and point-wise information of all facts was sought. When CHC Meja’s superintendent Dr. Bablu Sonkar went to the house of the deceased woman Saroja Devi, he enquired from the people there about the food habits of the people suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. In the woman’s house, information was taken about 65-year-old Kamlashankar Yadav and his wife 63-year-old Sumitra, 62-year-old Pramila Devi wife Dwarika Prasad, 15-year-old Deepanshu son of Dwarika Prasad who were suffering from vomiting and diarrhea.
Everyone was advised to drink boiled water and eat fresh food and pay special attention to cleanliness. The team accompanying the doctor distributed ORS powder, chlorine tablets, zinc and other necessary medicines to the patients and expressed grief over the death. The team stayed in Yadav Basti of Kurki Kala for about an hour and after taking care of and treating the patients, reached Chauhan Basti. ASHA Malti Devi of the village present there met six-year-old Priyanshu, 24-year-old Poonam Devi wife of Narsingh, four-year-old Duggu son of Ram Dular, 73-year-old Malti Devi wife of Shiv Bali Singh, 27-year-old Khushboo wife of Deepak Kumar, 22-year-old Lakshmi wife of Tej Bahadur, six-year-old Mahima, seven-year-old Sundari daughter of Deepak, five-year-old Dheeraj and Barilal who were suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. All the above were suffering from diarrhea at around two o’clock in the afternoon. When ASHA Malti of Chauhan Basti came to know about this, she reached CHC with everyone. Due to timely treatment, all the children and others of Chauhan Basti became completely fine. When the superintendent inquired about the infectious disease from the people of Chauhan Basti, it was found that dirty drain water was flowing outside everyone’s houses, which was never cleaned. Due to the dirt, people suffered from vomiting and diarrhea. On the other hand, it was found out about the woman Saroj Devi of Yadav Basti that her family members delayed the treatment, instead of taking her to the government hospital, they kept on treating her at home.
On the instructions of the CMO, the team that arrived from the district, District Epidemiologist Dr. Anshu Tyagi collected information from the people of Yadav Basti and Chauhan Basti of Kurki Kala village about how the infectious disease spread. Also, a survey of the water of the ponds around both the colonies was conducted. Information was collected on various points including where people use drinking water from.
