Patna. Out of the 40 seats in Bihar in the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Purnia was at the top of the list of seats that witnessed the most political activity. Pappu Yadav, who won the election as an independent candidate from the Purnia Lok Sabha seat, has created a stir in the political circles of Bihar. This victory is being considered very important for the politics of Bihar. At the same time, once again everyone’s eyes are on Purnia. In fact, after the resignation of Bima Bharti, a by-election is going to be held on the Rupauli assembly seat falling under the Purnia Lok Sabha seat. This election is being considered very important in terms of the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly.
In fact, Bima Bharti had resigned from the Rupali assembly to contest the election from Purnia Lok Sabha seat. However, she also lost the Lok Sabha election. Once again, the credibility of the Mahagathbandhan led by Tejashwi Yadav is at stake regarding this seat. On the other hand, the NDA will try its best to capture this seat so that the sorrow of defeat in Purnia Lok Sabha seat can be forgotten and a big message can be given before the assembly elections.
On behalf of NDA, JDU has nominated Kaladhar Prasad Mandal as its candidate from Rupauli assembly seat of Purnia who will contest against the Mahagathbandhan candidate. He will contest the election in place of Bima Bharti. Actually, last time Bima Bharti contested the election from Rupauli assembly seat on a JDU ticket. But, before the Lok Sabha elections, she changed sides and joined RJD. At the same time, the name of the candidate has not been announced by the Mahagathbandhan yet. But, it is believed that there can be a candidate from Gangota caste from the Mahagathbandhan.
Rupauli assembly seat has become a prestige battle for not only Tejashwi Yadav but also for NDA and Pappu Yadav. Victory or defeat on this seat will decide the political condition and direction of Kosi and Seemanchal in the upcoming assembly elections. Senior journalist of Bihar Arun Pandey says that Tejashwi Yadav will try to give the message by winning this seat that there is a lot of difference between Lok Sabha and assembly elections. He said that in the Lok Sabha elections, the NDA candidate got votes because the elections were held on national issues. But, in the assembly elections, the public will give more importance to their issues and employment. Its effect will also be seen on the Bihar assembly elections. Arun Pandey also says that Tejashwi Yadav will try to reduce the growing dominance of Pappu Yadav by winning this seat at any cost. But, Pappu Yadav will also try to give a clear message by making his candidate win this seat that only the one who gets the blessings of Pappu Yadav will win in Purnia.
But, NDA will try to take advantage of the fight between these two. By winning this seat, NDA will also want to give a big message of unity to the NDA workers for the assembly elections, which was clearly lacking in the Lok Sabha elections. The reputation of Minister Lesi Singh, former MP Santosh Kushwaha will also be at stake on this seat. At the same time, former MLA Shankar Singh is also making the contest triangular as an independent candidate in Rupauli assembly. His candidature is also being taken very seriously. Shankar Singh has also won the election on this seat once. Along with being a strongman, he is considered to have a good support in many castes, due to which his claim is also considered to be very strong.
Rupauli assembly seat is considered to be a very backward Gangota dominated seat. Bima Bharti also comes from this community. Here, the role of Luv Kush voters among other important castes, Rajput and Brahmin among upper castes as well as Muslim and very backward voters also becomes very important.
