Shubman Gill after scoring a century against Chennai Super Kings
In IPL, the match was played between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. In this match, Gujarat Titans defeated Chennai Super Kings by 35 runs. With the victory in this match, Gujarat Titans have kept their hopes of going to the playoffs alive. Meanwhile, BCCI has given a big blow to Gujarat Titans captain Shubhman Gill. In fact, Shubman Gill has been fined 25 percent of his match fee for maintaining a slow over rate during the Indian Premier League 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday.
Threat of ban on Shubman Gill!
The BCCI and IPL released a statement confirming the fine, noting that it was the team’s second offense of the season under the IPL’s code of conduct related to slow over rate violations. Due to which, reflecting the seriousness of the violation, a fine of Rs 24 lakh has been imposed on Gill. Additionally, as per IPL rules, the remaining members of the playing eleven, including the impact players, faced individual fines of Rs 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their match fees. In such a situation, if the Gujarat Titans team captained by Shubman Gill violates this rule once again, then Gill will be banned for one match.
How was the match?
Chennai Super Kings had to face defeat against Gujarat Titans in an important match. With the defeat in this match, his team has suffered a loss in net run rate in the points table. In this match, Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and decided to bowl first. After this, batting first, GT team scored 231 runs losing three wickets in 20 overs on the basis of centuries from Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan. In this match, Shubman played a brilliant inning of 104 runs on 55 balls and Sai Sudarshan played a brilliant inning of 103 runs on 51 balls.
Whereas in the second innings, Chennai Super Kings team got initial setbacks and their top order completely failed in this match. Although Mitchell and Moeen scored some runs together in the middle overs, the team could only reach 196 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs and GT won the match with ease.
