Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a good news to the people. It was told that this year the country is likely to have above average monsoon. IMD said, “If we understand from the data point of view, the seasonal rainfall due to the southwest monsoon across the country is likely to be 106% of the long period average (LPA) with a model error of ± 4 percent.”
The Meteorological Department said, “This year, the country’s monsoon season, which runs from June to September, is likely to receive more than normal rainfall.” The IMD said that the monsoon will be above normal in the central and southern parts of India. The North-East part of India will receive less than normal rainfall. Also, North-West India is also expected to receive less than normal rainfall. It was told that the monsoon may start in Kerala in the next 5 days. The conditions are very favorable for this.

Last year, there was less rain
Last year, India received 94 per cent of its total rainfall during the monsoon season. More than 70 per cent of the total rainfall in India was received during the southwest monsoon period. The progress of the southwest monsoon in India is evident with the onset of monsoon in Kerala. It is an important indicator that shows the transition from hot and dry season to rainy season.
The heat will trouble you more in June!
The IMD has made it clear that the temperature is likely to be above normal in June. The IMD has predicted a higher number of heatwave days in June over northwest India and adjoining parts of the central region. The IMD has said, “During June 2023, most parts of northwest India and neighbouring areas of north central India are likely to have above normal heatwave days.”
