2 people got new vision in their eyes.

Kolkata: The cornea of former West Bengal Chief Minister Budhadev Bhattacharya has been successfully transplanted in two persons. In this way, both these patients will get their eyesight back. Giving information about this on Friday, a senior doctor said that the two persons in whom the cornea has been transplanted are a man and a woman. Both had cornea problems. Dr. Asim Kumar Ghosh, Director of the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, said that the surgery done on Thursday night was successful and both the patients are recovering now.

A huge crowd gathered to bid final farewell

The doctor praised Bhattacharya’s decision and called it an inspiring act. Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharya died at his residence in Kolkata on Thursday at the age of 80. Hundreds of people gathered at the CPM state headquarters on Friday to bid him adieu. Bhattacharya will be remembered for his commitment to communist ideology and pragmatic approach to industrialisation of the state. Some of the mourners paid tribute to Bhattacharya with teary eyes while many gave a clenched fist and red salute.

Bhattacharya was the last leftist CM of Bengal

Let us tell you that Budhadev Bhattacharya did not even care about his ideological commitment to lure capitalists for industrialization in his state. Bhattacharya, who had an impeccable image, will also be remembered for the fall of the 34-year-old leftist rule in the state in 2011. Bhattacharya is survived by his wife Mira and daughter Suchetana. Despite his poor health in recent years, Bhattacharya remained a respected figure in Bengal’s political scene. Bhattacharya became the Chief Minister of West Bengal after Jyoti Basu in 2000 and remained in this post till 2011. (Language)
