New Delhi: The government has called an all-party meeting today ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament. The monsoon session of Parliament is scheduled to begin on July 22 and end on August 12. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget in Parliament on July 23. In an official press release, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs said that Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will hold a meeting with leaders of political parties in both the Houses of Parliament ahead of the budget session of Parliament. The all-party meeting will be held at 11 am in the main committee room of Parliament House.

For the first time, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will attend this traditional meeting of the leaders of the House of all parties before the session begins as the Leader of the Opposition. No representative of the Trinamool Congress will attend this meeting, as the party celebrates July 21 as Martyrs’ Day. Trinamool Congress Parliamentary Party leader Derek O’Brien has written a letter to Rijiju informing that his party will not be able to attend this meeting. He said, “For 30 years, July 21 is celebrated as ‘Martyr’s Day’ in Bengal in honor of our 13 colleagues who were unlawfully killed in police firing in 1993.” He said, “In this perspective, all the MPs of All India Trinamool Congress, including me, will be in their home state to celebrate this day with other colleagues of the party. Therefore, no MP will be able to attend the meeting.”
The first budget of the third term of the Modi government
Let us tell you that this is the first budget session after the completion of the general elections and the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha. In the Lok Sabha elections, BJP and its allies managed to gain power in Parliament. Accordingly, the budget to be presented in this session will be the first budget of their third term. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget in the House on July 23, after which there will be a discussion in both the houses. In the first Parliament session after the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha, the opposition alliance ‘India’ had recently raised issues like NEET controversy, the situation in Manipur and inflation and the proceedings of both the houses were disrupted due to sloganeering and noise. There were also protests in both the houses during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reply to the motion of thanks on the President’s address.
