Switzerland’s Fanny Smith, who was sent fourth due to a wrong decision at the Beijing Olympics, will be relegated to third place. She will be awarded a bronze medal in the women’s ski cross event.
On Saturday, the International Sky Federation (FIS) overturned the jury’s penalty at the Beijing Olympics, accepting the appeal nine days after the end of the competition.
The FIS said the jury’s decision was wrong. Smith was found guilty of contacting other players at a skier event held on February 17, on the basis of which the jury showed a yellow card without issuing a warning.
This moved him from third place to fourth place. The bronze medal was awarded to Germany’s Daniela Meier, who was then fourth in the event. Now because of this new decision, Meier will lose her medal.
