Being a young woman, first sent friend request on Facebook ... then lime of Rs 6 crore, shocking case of cheating

In Delhi’s South Delhi area, a man was befriended by a person on Facebook, cheated in the name of stock market and business. The accused took the form of a girl and recovered more than Rs 6 crore from an unknown person. The victim has lodged a complaint of fraud in the IFSO of Special Cell, and the police is investigating the case.

Friend request started cheating

According to the victim, a few days ago she received a friend request from a young woman named Neha on Facebook. Initially he ignored it, but later Neha’s message came through Facebook Messenger. Neha, citing her friend Rahul, told her that she is a close friend of her and then discussed about two big businesses. Neha claimed that she plans to set up an EV manufacturing unit and has seen 80 acres of land in Noida for this.

Subsequently, she introduced online trading in the stock market, in which she herself had invested Rs 20 crore. Neha urged the victim to participate in this investment. To assure him, he sent his passport photo and other documents, as well as demanded a PAN card and Aadhaar card from the victim, so that he could be registered for stock investment.

Investment and fraud starts in stock market

Neha sent a link to the victim to join a telegram channel and made a trading profile there. Initially the victim invested some money, and after some time he saw the profit on the portal, which further increased his trust. Gradually, Neha asked the victim to transfer money and assured her that she would soon make a big profit in investment.

Fraud disclosure

By February 2025, the victim deposited a total of Rs 4,46,20,000 in this portal. But when he tried to withdraw this amount, it did not come out. Subsequently, Neha told her that 30% tax would have to be paid on withdrawal. Forced, the victim deposited Rs 57,07,056 as a tax. Then, he was told that 20% transaction fee would have to be paid for Rs 5 crore for withdrawal. In this way, Neha took a total of Rs 6,03,27,056 from the victim.

Subsequently, the victim realized that he had fallen victim to full fraud and everyone in the Telegram channel was scammer. He came to know that Rahul, who was initially described as Neha’s friend, had no relation with him.

IFSO is investigating case

In view of the seriousness of the case, the IFSO team of Special Cell has registered an FIR and started investigation. Police say this is a major case of fraud and the accused will be identified and arrested soon. The victim says that he did not believe that the investment on Facebook would be so expensive.
