New Delhi: Time is the most powerful. Who can understand this better than Sheikh Hasina. Until some time ago, Sheikh Hasina was the most powerful person in Bangladesh, today she is wandering from door to door. She is seeking refuge from the world, but no one is ready to give her shelter. There was such a storm of protest in Bangladesh that Sheikh Hasina’s chair was blown away. She was forced to leave the country. Currently, Sheikh Hasina is in the safe house of Hindon Airbase in India. But now the question is why Sheikh Hasina was forced to leave the country, was her life really in danger in Bangladesh? Did her brother-in-law betray her or save her life?
First of all, let us understand who is Sheikh Hasina’s brother-in-law. The current army chief of Bangladesh is Sheikh Hasina’s brother-in-law. Army Chief Walker-uz-Zaman is the husband of the cousin of Bangladesh’s former PM Sheikh Hasina. In fact, Army Chief Walker-uz-Zaman’s father-in-law General Mustafizur Rahman was the Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army from 24 December 1997 to 23 December 2000. Mustafizur Rahman was Sheikh Hasina’s uncle. Walker’s wife is Hasina’s cousin.
What is the relationship between Sheikh Hasina and the Army Chief
Now let’s talk about whether brother-in-law Vakar-uz-Zaman betrayed sister-in-law Sheikh Hasina or actually saved his life from the protesters. To understand this, we have to understand the events of August 5. On August 4, there was a lot of massacre during the protest in Bangladesh. About 100 people died. The protest against Sheikh Hasina became violent. Now the water had reached the neck. From August 5, Sheikh Hasina declared curfew in the whole country. Internet service was shut down. Every possible effort was made to crush the protest, but the protesters were not ready to agree. Sheikh Hasina gave complete freedom to the army and police. Do whatever you want to do, just let the protest end. But the water had gone above the head.
Why did the Army Chief suddenly reach Haseena’s house?
Early in the morning of 5 August, there was a commotion at Sheikh Hasina’s house. The chiefs of all the armies reached Sheikh Hasina’s house. Sheikh Hasina’s sister was also present during this time. Army Chief Walker-uz-Zaman and the chiefs of other armies started persuading Sheikh Hasina to resign. The army chiefs were convinced that it was no longer possible to stop the protests. Genocide was the only option. But all the army chiefs were not in favor of this. Army Chief Walker-uz-Zaman and the chiefs of other wings were persuading Sheikh Hasina to resign and leave the country. But Hasina remained adamant on her stubbornness.
How did the Army Chief convince Sheikh Hasina?
Sheikh Hasina’s sister also tried to convince her in private for 20 minutes. Still, Sheikh Hasina was not ready to resign and leave the country. Army Chief Walker-uz-Zaman was afraid that the protesters could even kill Sheikh Hasina. He wanted Sheikh Hasina to resign somehow. But Hasina was not ready to agree. After this, the Army Chief immediately called Hasina’s son Sajeev Wajed who lives in Virginia and asked him to convince his mother. After convincing, Army Chief Walker handed over the phone to Hasina. When Hasina talked to her son, then she agreed to resign and leave the country.
