Jaipur. The cybercrime branch of Rajasthan Police has warned the common man to a new and dangerous way of cyber fraud. Criminals are now using ‘call forwarding’ in this fraud in the name of “courier service/product delivery”, due to which people’s earnings are being blown up in the blink of an eye. Cyber ​​criminals are constantly changing their techniques and now they are making people their victims by taking disguise of well -known courier companies.

SP Cybercrime Police Headquarters Shantanu Kumar said that cyber thugs contact people through phones or WhatsApp calls. They tell them that their delivery is coming and on the pretext of giving delivery either try to ask an OTP, or they ask them to dial a particular number. This number often starts with ## 21 #, **, *, or #. As soon as the victim dials ## 21#, the ‘call forwarding’ of his mobile becomes active. This means that all the calls coming on the victim’s phone, which can also include OTP, directly forward the number of cyber criminal.

As soon as cyber criminals get access to your call and OTP, they immediately blow money from your bank account or make you a victim of cheating by sending UPI links. Police say that they specially target people who really have an online delivery, which makes their bluff even more reliable.

What to do for rescue
Rajasthan Police has given some important advice to the common people to protect this new cyber crime technology:

Do not dial any number: If you are asked to dial any number during any call coming in the name of delivery, do not press it at all.

Do not share OTP without verification: When the delivery man arrives at your house, first of all check which company it has come from and which company your courier was coming from. Share the OTP only after being completely convinced and if possible, open the package in front of it and check.

What to do if you become a hunting

If you fall prey to this type of fraud, then information to Cyber ​​Help Line Number: 1930, Cybercrime Reporting Portal: https://cybercrime.gov.in, inform your nearest police station or cyber police station.

Kumar told the SP that it is necessary that we all be cautious and share this information with our family and friends so that no one is a victim of this new trick.
