Chennai. Forgetting his disappointing performance in the Indian Premier League, Hardik Pandya has reached the T20 World Cup. The last two months have been very difficult for this all-rounder. Former off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who sympathizes with him, wants this Indian all-rounder to leave this bad time behind with his impressive performance in the T20 World Cup. Mumbai Indians’ performance in the Indian Premier League under Hardik’s captaincy was very disappointing.
The team finished 10th in the table and during this time he himself failed to make an impact with the ball and bat. Things became even more difficult for him when the spectators inside the stadium started booing him. However, Harbhajan is hopeful that things will change during the T20 World Cup in America.
He told PTI, “When he wears the blue jersey (Indian team jersey), a different Hardik Pandya will be seen because we know that he can score runs and take wickets. I want Hardik to perform well because he has gone through a lot. I wish him all the best for a very good tournament for India. If this tournament goes well for Hardik, then obviously India will have a great opportunity to move forward.
The 43-year-old former player said, “Yes, his form is a bit of a concern. There were a lot of things going on around him, his move from Gujarat (Titans) to Mumbai (Indians) was a big change and the team (MI) did not respond well to Hardik as captain.”
Hardik had to face opposition from the audience because the Mumbai franchise handed him the captaincy instead of the highly successful Rohit Sharma. Harbhajan, who was a member of the Indian team that won the T20 and ODI World Cup, urged the team management to ‘unite’ Hardik and Rohit. Harbhajan said, “Winning the World Cup is a bigger achievement than winning the IPL trophy, so I would urge the management to bring everyone together and ensure their unity. So that they can play as a team. I believe it is the responsibility of the management to come together and win together. Even if they lose, they should lose together. “
